What is Golden Strip Unite?

Golden Strip Unite is a community platform that connects volunteers ("helpers") with local organizations and individuals in need across Simpsonville, Mauldin, and Fountain Inn, South Carolina. We make it easier to find a cause that matches your skills and availability — and easier for organizations to find reliable help.

Is Golden Strip Unite a nonprofit?

We are a community initiative currently in our invite-only beta phase. Our legal structure is being finalized. We operate with community service as our sole mission and are funded by donations and sponsorships — not investors.

Is the platform free to use?

Yes — completely free for volunteers and organizations. We are funded by donations and business sponsorships. We will never charge helpers or organizations to connect.

What cities do you serve?

Currently we focus on Simpsonville, Mauldin, and Fountain Inn, South Carolina — the communities of the Golden Strip. We may expand in the future, but for now we're committed to serving these three cities well.

For Helpers (Volunteers)

How do I become a volunteer?

During our beta phase, reach out through the Contact page and let us know you'd like to become a helper. We'll review your inquiry and invite you to create a profile. Once your profile is approved by our team, you'll be able to browse and request opportunities.

Do I need any special skills or experience?

No — there are opportunities for people of all backgrounds. Whether you can drive, tutor, cook, build, or simply provide companionship, there's a place for you. You'll describe your skills and interests in your profile, and we'll help match you with relevant opportunities.

How much time do I need to commit?

That's entirely up to you. Some opportunities are one-time events; others are ongoing. You'll set your own availability in your profile, and you can choose opportunities that fit your schedule.

Is my personal information shared publicly?

No. Your personal contact details are never shared publicly. They are only released to an organization after our admin team has reviewed and approved a connection request — and only to the organization you're connecting with.

For Organizations

How does my organization get listed?

Contact us through the Organizations page or the Contact form. We'll review your organization's profile and posted needs before making anything public. This beta phase is invite-only, so space is limited.

What types of organizations can join?

We welcome any local group that serves the community: senior centers, schools, churches, shelters, clinics, libraries, nonprofits, animal shelters, and more. If you serve the Golden Strip and need volunteer support, we want to hear from you.

Can I post any kind of need?

Most needs are welcome, but our admin team reviews all postings before they go live. We do not allow needs that could compromise volunteer safety, require professional licensing without proper oversight, or involve sensitive situations that aren't appropriate for our platform.

How do I receive contact information for a volunteer?

When a helper requests to connect with your opportunity, our admin team reviews the request. If approved, you'll receive the helper's contact details directly. No information is ever released without that admin review step.

Safety & Privacy

How does Golden Strip Unite protect vulnerable individuals?

We take safety seriously. Individual care recipients (seniors, children, people in need) are never publicly listed. Needs involving vulnerable individuals are posted by organizations or submitted privately through our "Need Help?" form. All connections are reviewed by our admin team before any contact is released.

Do you run background checks?

Golden Strip Unite reviews every profile and connection request, but we are not a background check service and do not guarantee the safety of any volunteer or organization. We encourage organizations to conduct their own screening for roles that require it, especially those involving children, seniors, or other vulnerable groups.

What happens to information submitted through the "Need Help?" form?

Private need submissions go directly to our admin team and are never posted publicly. Our team reviews each request privately and works to find an appropriate match. Your information is handled with care and never shared without your knowledge.

Donations & Sponsorships

Where does my donation go?

Donations fund the operation of the platform — hosting, tools, outreach, and the admin work that makes every safe connection possible. We are not investor-funded; donations and sponsorships are our sole revenue.
